PBR textures
Turns a texture photo into a complete PBR material, with color, normal, roughness and height, and upscales it to 1K, 2K or 4K.

What it does
You have a photo of a fabric, a wood or a stone and need it as a material. The generator creates the maps (color, normal, roughness, gloss, height, bump, occlusion and 16-bit displacement) and, if you want, upscales the image first.
Everything runs on your computer, without sending the image to the internet and without needing a graphics card. The result goes into a folder, ready to use in SketchUp or 3ds Max.
Before you start
- A PNG, JPEG or WebP image, 32 to 4096 px per side and up to 64 MB.
- It helps to know the real size the photo represents: that is what gives the material the right scale.
Step by step
Start a conversion
Click New conversion. Earlier ones are under Saved conversions, with Generate again.
Choose the texture
Under Source texture, click Select texture or drag the image onto the screen.
Choose the processing
Upscale + PBR upscales and generates the maps; choose the Output resolution: 1K, 2K or 4K (longer side). PBR only generates the maps at the original size, without cropping or changing the color.
Set up the material
Under Material properties, choose the Material type (fabric, wood, marble, porcelain tile, metal…) and check the real width in mm, the relief depth and the roughness. Restore material defaults goes back to the type’s values.
Generate
Check Save to and click Generate texture and maps (or Generate PBR maps, in PBR only). The app shows the stages, from preparation to the finished material.
Use the result
Compare Original and Result, look at the Material maps and click Open result to open the folder with the 8 PNGs.
Tips
- The default output is the Texturas PBR folder inside the library; each generation creates a subfolder with the name, the resolution and a code.
- The normal map uses the OpenGL convention.
- The generator doesn’t make the texture seamless: for large areas, use a photo that already tiles well.
- This screen doesn’t apply the material in the program: create the material in SketchUp or 3ds Max with the maps from the folder.
Common problems
- WhenThe texture exceeds the chosen profile.
- What to doChoose a higher output resolution or use PBR only.
- WhenProcessing took more than 10 minutes.
- What to doTry a smaller image or a lower output resolution.
- WhenThe upscale model isn’t installed.
- What to doPBR only is still available. To upscale, reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store.
- WhenThe original texture was moved or deleted.
- What to doStart a New conversion with the image in its new location.
