What it does

The Modeling tab has SketchUp dynamic components ready for everyday design work, in 10 categories: Doors and windows, Joinery, Electrical, Plumbing and gas, Lighting, Structure and roofing, Finishes and hatches, Symbols, 2D templates and 3D templates.

They are part of the monthly and annual plans and don’t count toward the block quota. You adjust dimensions and options in SketchUp’s own dynamic components window.

Before you start

  • A monthly or annual plan. On the free plan the tab shows the Pro badge.
  • SketchUp open with the FLUIO. extension, and the app open with an active session.

Step by step

  1. Open the Modeling tab

    In the Dynamic blocks sidebar, choose the category. The number next to it shows how many blocks it has.

  2. Search or filter by type

    Use Search or Filters › Type to go straight to outlets, windows, valves and drains, and more.

  3. Click the block

    The app downloads the block if needed and places it in SketchUp, attached to the cursor. Click in the model to place it.

  4. Or use the toolbar in SketchUp

    The FLUIO. toolbar has a button for each category. Click it, choose the block in the FLUIO. Blocos dinâmicos window and place it in the model.

Tips

  • The blocks get the category tag, and so do the parts inside them.
  • Dynamic blocks never appear in 3D Library: they are only here and on the toolbar.
  • From the app, the block goes to the first open SketchUp window.

Common problems

WhenThe tab shows the Pro badge and the categories are locked.
What to doModeling is part of the monthly and annual plans. Click See plans.
WhenOn the SketchUp toolbar, a message says the FLUIO. dynamic blocks only work with the app open.
What to doOpen FLUIO. and sign in. The connection comes back on its own in a few seconds.
When“SketchUp is not open.” on the app tab.
What to doClick Open SketchUp and wait for it to connect.
WhenIn SketchUp, a message says the FLUIO app didn’t respond.
What to doCheck that the app is open with an active session and click again.
